Cinder Hypki...

...is an artist, educator and community development consultant living in Baltimore, Maryland.  In 1993, after more than a decade of direct service work in the non profit sector, she founded Hypki Consulting, through which she now facilitates a wide variety of community art and organizational development projects for non-profits, foundations and community groups.  Pentimento, Inc. is Cinder’s small business for the sale of her own artwork.

As a practicing community artist, Cinder has facilitated mosaic and greening projects with all ages in collaboration with organizations like the Julie Community Center, Kids on the Hill, the Southeast Youth Academy, the Tri-State Reuse Center, Banner Neighborhoods, many public schools, and others.  She has worked abroad in Costa Rica, Hungary, and Romania and is fluent in Spanish. 

Ms. Hypki received a B.S. from The University of Wisconsin and an M.S. in Environmental Education from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  In 1998 she was selected as a Community Fellow of the Open Society Institute in its inaugural year, an opportunity now awarded to 10 social entrepreneurs in Baltimore each year.  From 2002-2004, Ms. Hypki was the Associate Director of the Community Arts Partnerships Office at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is currently adjunct faculty there in the new Masters of Art in Community Arts program.
